GENERATION

The total installed capacity of all power plants in Montenegro at the end of 2021 was 1,050.8 MW. In the total installed production capacity, and depending on the type of energy used for the production of electricity, the installed power and the percentage participation of power plants is as follows[1]:

Hydropower plants include 2 large and 38 small ones. HPP "Perucica" is the oldest large power plant in Montenegro, put into operation in 1960. Its installed power is 307 MW, and the possible annual production is around 1,300 GWh. The second large hydroelectric power plant "Piva" is of the impoundment type with one of the largest concrete arch dams in the world, it has been in operation since 1976, with an installed capacity of 342 MW and a projected annual electricity production of 860 GWh.

The thermal power plant is reflected in one unit of the "Pljevlja" thermal power plant, which started operating in 1982, and it is the first Montenegrin condensation thermal power plant designed with two units of 225 MW, but only one was built.

In Montenegro, two wind farms, Krnovo and Mozura, have been built with a total installed capacity of 118 MW.
